Museum and Library Hours overwinter 2018, by chance or appointment.

Beginning March 9, 2018, Hours will be Wed., Thurs., & Fri., 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and by appointment.

January 2018

12—Story Hour 9:30am/10:45am/1:00pm  Please call to register in advance. $2/child. Adults are free  and should plan to stay.

Month-long Hand-spinning Class Special – Learn to select, prepare and hand spin wool into yarn.  This class will take you from beginner to proficient in as many weeks as you care to sign up for.  Classes are 1-on-1 ($25/hour) or  with-a-friend ($45/hour).  All materials and equipment is supplied by the museum. Call to schedule a time that suits.

 

February 2018

Month Long Family-style Hearth Cooking Class Special.  Pick out a few friends, or round up the kids, and call us to plan a hearth cooking experience.  We will teach up to 4 people to cook over a hearth fire, and the food we make will feed a party of 8.  Special price (dependent upon menu selected) runs all-month. Call to schedule.

May

Quilt Show!  Come visit our annual display of locally made quilts. Time worn antiques through brand new creations. Over 30 quilts are on display throughout the month.  Admission $3. Group rates are available if scheduled in advance. Members and students are free.

June

Kids-Crafts Class Special — Schedule this 2-hour craft activity to suit your family’s busy calendar.  The class accommodates up to 6 children, ages 6 through 16.  Children may select from a variety of crafts, each project is suitable for entry in the Elizabethtown Fair.  Crafts are (select one per group, in advance); Weaving, Scherenschnitte (scissors cutting), German Folded Paper stars, or Embroidery.  Call for more information. $60/group of 4 to 6

16 – Volunteer Appreciation Picnic  A pot-luck picnic in the museum’s shady backyard. Please bring a covered dish, and some lawn chairs.

July

28 – Arts and Crafts Weekend #1  – 9am-noon Children (ages 6-16) will make an historic craft that is also suitable for entry into the Elizabethtown Fair.  This weekend, the class will focus on weaving. Children can work with yarn on a small loom or learn to weave in Native American style using natural materials.  $15/child. Please call to register by July 20.

August

11Arts and Crafts Weekend #2  – 9am-noon Children (ages 6-16) will make an historic craft that is also suitable for entry into the Elizabethtown Fair.  This weekend, the class will focus on paper crafts; Scherenschnitte (German scissors cutting) and German folded paper stars. Children may do one of each or two of the same.  $10/child  Please call to register by August 3.

20-25 – Look for  us at the Elizabethtown Fair! (museum will be closed)

September

Month-long exhibit;  Voices of Elizabethtown This three-room exhibit allows visitors to hear Elizabethtown citizens’ memories of early 1900s businesses, the Great Depression, and World War II. Photos and documents add additional information. Admission $3/ Members and students free.

October

12 – Haunted Museum 5pm-8pm  Stop by for a ghoulish visit in family friendly Halloween style!

12- Conversation Elizabethtown 7-9pm Oya Oscanza, professor at Elizabethtown College, will give a lecture on Turkish foreign policy and Turkey’s relations with the West.  The lecture will be held in our Community Room at 33 East High.

November

9 & 10 Elizabethtown Heritage Craft Show  Friday, 4pm-8pm, Saturday 9am-3pm  Locally made arts and crafts show.  Come see the talent that lives in our community! Unique shopping! Food! Raffles! Fun! Admission $2 or food bank contribution. Museum members and students are free. admission is free after noon on Saturday.
