The Herb Study Group, which was founded in April 1991, began with a design for an 18th Century Colonial Herb Garden to be constructed at the rear of the museum property behind the new museum’s 1847 Hearth Kitchen and Squirrel-Tail Bake Oven. A Signature Quilt fundraiser project started in 1990 was the prime source of funding for garden construction.
