Winters Heritage House Museum offers several tour opportunities for visiting groups or individuals.
Drop-in Building Tour — $3/ person requested donation. This is an impromptu tour for up to 5 people. Simply drop-by during museum hours and we’ll be happy to show you the buildings and explain their fascinating history. This style tour takes approximately 30 minutes and can be child-geared if so desired.
Scheduled Museum Tour — $25/group, for groups of up to 10 people. This is a docent-guided tour of our two 1760 log buildings and takes from 45-minutes to an hour. Call in advance to discuss your group’s interests and needs. If you have a larger group, we can run several tours simultaneously.
Extended Tour — $40/group for groups of up to 10 people. This is the Scheduled Museum Tour with an additional tour of either Wayne Fettro’s ‘Donegal to Donegal’ mural, or our raised-bed colonial herb garden. Add 30 minutes. If you have a larger group, we can run several tours simultaneously.
Tour with Activity — $100/group for groups of up to 10 people. This is our Scheduled Museum Tour with an additional one-hour hands-on workshop. See our Education Program page for more information on these activities. Choose from:
- Wool to Weaving – Explore how wool was process into yarn and then woven into cloth. Many of the steps were children’s jobs from long ago!
- Scherenschnitte – Pennsylvania German scissors cutting. Learn some tricks to cutting these detailed patterns out of paper.
- German Folded Paper Stars – Work step-by-step to turn strips of paper into Moravian-style stars. Once mastered, this can be addictive!
Library Research Fee — $5/day, museum members are free
Library Research Request — $20/hour for requests via email or phone.
Special Event Admission — $3/person, museum members are free. This applies to the May Quilt Exhibit, the September Elizabethtown History Exhibit, the Haunted Museum Tours, and the Holiday Craft Show.
