Winters Heritage House Museum is a volunteer-run organization. There are many ways to volunteer with us.
The museum is home to several committees that meet regularly and support the preservation and education of historic skills or our community history. Currently there is a Quilt Committee, an Herb Garden Committee, a Textile Group, a Research Library Committee, and a Docent Committee (which includes our Third Grade Walking Tour guides and Story Hour teachers). In-active committees currently are our Hearth Cook Committee and our Heritage Artisan Guild.
The museum provides a meeting place and exhibit space for these committees and in return they share their talents through offering classes or by providing assistance during special events. All committees meet one or two times a month and are welcoming to beginners.
Front Desk, Museum Guide (Docent), Research Assistant, Property Assistant, Event Help
These volunteers help man the museum front desk, give unscheduled tours, assist in the library and help with data entry or other museum behind-the-scenes tasks, such as setting up exhibits or helping with special events. These positions have very flexible hours and skill requirements.
The museum works closely with our local colleges and is happy to provide specific internship projects to interested students.
